Introduction

Paranation are pleased to bring you a chilling investigation reaching back as far as the 16th century at The Crown Hotel, Alton, Hampshire.

History

The Crown has been a hotel and public house for over 450 years.

The oldest part of The Crown Hotel is believed to date back to the mid 16th century, with many of the timbers used in its construction reputedly obtained from old warships in the shipbuilding yards of the Southern Hampshire maritime cities of Portsmouth and Southampton. Legend would have us believe that the hotel is haunted by at least four ghosts or apparitions. Staff and customers have reported "strange happenings" from time to time.

Activity

• A dog around the fireplace area of the Lounge Bar allegedly killed by a customer

• Mr John Gould whose painted portrait hangs in the Lounge Bar

• A lady, alleged to be John Gould's sister roaming room 3 also an old man is said     to haunt this room

• A gentleman known only as Patrick, who guards the cellars

• A phantom woman is also said to haunt the Crown pub. Apparently she is a            former serving wench or maidservant. Her presence has been 'felt' and one             manager saw a shadowy figure of a woman pass the door to his office.

The timbers used to build The Crown were reputedly obtained from old warships - could there be a few ghosts associated with the warships?

An interesting investigation awaits us, join us at The Crown, Alton.

Event Plan

The evening will begin with an introductory talk. We will then hold short demonstrations on how to use our equipment, which will be yours to use throughout the evening. (No one will be expected to use equipment against their will, we respect the wishes of others).

We will then proceed with a lit walk around the location.

After gathering our large range of equipment, we will investigate for ghostly activity. Paranormal experiments will be set up and carried out in various parts of the location.

We can divide into groups for night vigils, and the very brave are welcome to explore in smaller groups!!

Regular comfort breaks will be taken which will give the groups an opportunity to discuss any paranormal activity found.
